Print Lunar Landing 50th Anniversary Star Finder

  • Combines features of a star finder, celestial globe, and pinhole planetarium.
  • Print inside and outside on opposite sides of one sheet of paper (center image printing to make line up)
  • Laminate for strength - or print on cardstock
  • Cut out shape along lines
  • Use pushpins to create pinholes in star positions
  • Fold up along dotted lines, and tape edges
  • Look inside to see constellation shapes, names, star names, etc.
  • Shine cellphone light or flashlight through to see stars (roughly) on nearby walls and ceiling.

Let us customize a free globetarium for a star party date, birthday, or other event. The Globetarium Team has moved temporarily from Bloomington to London this fall. We can visit your school or help with your science fair or other astronomy outreach.

Frustarium star-finder, celestial globe, and pinhole planetarium

Frustrum shape ideal for capturing canopy of night sky to learn about constellations and the ecliptic. Print, laminate for strength (or print on cardstock), cut along lines, use pushpins to create pinholes in star positions, fold up along dotted lines, and tape edges. Look inside to see constellation and star names. Shine cellphone light or flashlight through to see stars (roughly) on nearby walls and ceiling.

    Dodecatarium sit-under pinhole planetarium

Dodecahedron-shaped sit-in planetarium for children. Print out then use as a model to draw constellations and/or make pinholes in 11 20"x30" foamboard sheets (cut to pentagons). Detailed directions for making 3-foot high dodecatarium. Or print and laminate like frustrarium. Color in globe on outside. Hard to shine light inside so no reason to make starholes. Hard for young children to tape all together but very interesting shape to play with.

    Cubetarium stand-under pinhole planetarium

Cube-shaped planetarium to hang from ceiling and stand under. Print out then use as model to make pinholes in five square 20"x20" foamboard sheets. Or print out and use like a frustarium. Prints two on one page, but hard for adults to see inside and read. Easier than dodecatarium, harder than frustarium to tape.
